At National Business Furniture, we use different shipping methods based on the type of furniture being delivered and on the type of business the furniture is being delivered to.
By Package Carrier
Smaller furniture items, including most chairs and ready-to-assemble bookshelves, can be shipped by a package carrier because they don’t require much room in a delivery truck and are light enough to be moved around relatively easily. These package carriers are most commonly UPS or FedEx. In these cases, the delivery driver will deliver your package to your loading dock or front door.
Larger and heavier furniture items, including desks, tables and filing cabinets, will need to be shipped by a freight carrier using a large semi-trailer truck. This shipping method may also be referred to as curbside delivery. In these instances, the driver will pull up to your loading dock and bring the furniture to the back of the truck. You will be responsible for taking the furniture off the truck and into your building.
Tailgate Delivery with a Liftgate
If your location does not have a loading dock, we strongly recommend requesting a liftgate truck since removing large and heavy furniture from the back of a four-foot high trailer can prove quite difficult. With a liftgate, the delivery driver will pull up to the curb side of your business or residence and the liftgate will lower your boxes to the ground so that you can bring them into your office or home more easily. Be sure to specify liftgate delivery in the shipping comment section when you place your order. There is an additional fee for this service.
If your location does not have people who are able to bring your new furniture into the building, we recommend adding inside delivery service to your order. When you order inside delivery, the driver will take the boxes off the truck and bring them inside your location’s ground level front door. For furniture weighing more than 125 pounds, the driver will bring the item into your room of choice, including going up one flight of stairs. There is an additional fee for this service, and it may add up to an additional week to your delivery time.
