NBF unveils “Virtual Visit” on NBF.com – a video stream that connects customers to furniture experts for live product demonstrations on popular office furniture.

MARCH 10, 2014—MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN—National Business Furniture (NBF), a leading provider of furniture and equipment to healthcare, business, government and educational facilities, is revolutionizing the way people shop for office furniture with the launch of their Virtual Visit program. NBF’s Virtual Visit is a shopping experience that gives customers a direct line of communication with NBF’s furniture experts through a live video feed on NBF.com. NBF’s consultants use portable wireless cameras in a 15,000-square-foot showroom that features over 1,000 products.

With Virtual Visit, customers are able to watch live product demonstrations of NBF’s most popular furniture pieces and directly ask any questions they have. Customers can go beyond the limitations of traditional online shopping by asking NBF’s furniture consultants to open a drawer of a desk or adjust a chair, all without leaving their office. NBF’s new Virtual Visit can be found at www.NBF.com/virtualvisit.

NBF President Kent Anderson stated that the program was the next logical step for the company, as NBF’s primary mission is to improve every workplace. “We want to engage with our customers in new and better ways, and live video demonstrations offer the next best thing to actually being next to the item,” Anderson said. “We believe this service bridges the gap between retail shopping and web shopping.”

Anderson also detailed how the new Virtual Visit program was created with the purpose of empowering customers to make more informed purchasing decisions. “Sometimes customers are buying one or two pieces of furniture and want to know how it will look with their existing furniture. For example, let’s say someone is looking at a rather modern styled chair but is concerned it may not look good with their traditional styled desk. Our Virtual Visit consultants can roll that chair to a traditional desk and show you,” Anderson explained.

In addition, customers can learn more about a product than what a static image or typical web video would provide. Anderson continued, “It’s often difficult to know how a chair works or how much space a desk really has until you have a chance to look at it up close. With Virtual Visit, you can now ask our consultants to show you how a particular chair adjusts or have them open a desk’s file drawer. Instead of passively shopping, you’re actually in control.”

NBF also has sales representatives in 20 of the largest U.S. cities. The Virtual Visit program will enable this sales force to better engage with customers everywhere; using the virtual showroom as a way to demonstrate products right from the customer’s screen.
